The big day is finally here! 15 months of training, 12kg of fat, a couple of stingers and weekly doses of hypothermia have all led to this.

I’m hoping to set off around 10am UK time / 7pm Sydney time) on Friday July 5. The forecast looks great at the moment but that can all change pretty quickly in the Channel.

You can track my progress/suffering in real time on the GPS tracker below and read live (and probably dubious) commentary from my Dad on the twitter stream on the right. Feel free to tweet me with any messages of support/abuse – Dad will be writing the messages on a whiteboard for me to read while I swim. Anything to take my mind off the cold will be a welcome treat, so fire away!

What would be even more encouraging is if you could donate to one of my chosen charities – Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Australia.
